Situated on a magnificent estate in western Sicily, La Foresteria di Badia is a great opportunity for couples or small families to experience life on a traditional Sicilian estate without the price tag! In a wonderfully peaceful location, the villa is also within easy reach of western Sicily’s fabulous beaches and many of the island’s most interesting sights.
The villa is surrounded by wonderful gardens and a pretty orange grove which ensure complete privacy. It is completely independent of both the smaller Badia Tower and the main house which is occupied by the owners of the Estate who are available to assist with anything you may need.
The villa sits in the midst of an orange grove surrounded by a magnificent lush Mediterranean garden which is criss-crossed with oleander-bordered pathways and shaded by palm trees. Within this beautiful outdoor environment you will find a table and chairs perfect for outdoor dining. There is a small solarium area, set around a charming relaxation pool – with hydro-massage jets – where you can top up your tan in the refreshing water or on the comfortable sunloungers.
The spacious living room has a very welcoming feel, enhanced by a fireplace and lovely collection of majolica tiles. A table and chairs create a dining space at one end of the room and there is a sofa with armchairs at the other end. A compact open-plan kitchen is situated just off the living room.
There are two double bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite bathroom with shower, while the other shares a bathroom (with shower) with the single bedroom.
Beaches
West Sicily has some wild and often overlooked beaches to be enjoyed. San Teodoro is close to Trapani. Its shallow waters are ideal for a day by the sea, and you can even walk out to a small island. Lido Marausa is another great choice for a chilled-out day by the sea with cooling sea breezes. Capo Feto is beautiful, unspoilt and completely relaxed. The Aegadian Islands also have some fantastic beaches. Take a day trip to Favignana and visit Cala Rossa for an unforgettable experience by the sea with crystal-clear water.
Towns & Sights
This part of Sicily is rich in towns and sights to see. Marsala is a pretty town with a well-maintained town centre, lots of wine bars and restaurants, and some high-end shops. Trapani is more relaxed, but has ferry links to the Aegadian Islands which should definitely be explored during your holiday in Sicily. Erice is a hilltop town with amazing sea views and Medieval architecture that has a magical atmosphere. The ruins of Segesta offer a glimpse back in time, as do the timeless Salt Pans between Trapani and Marsala. Mazara del Vallo is unique with a North African feel and amazing fresh fish.
Activities
You can’t miss a tour of a winery when staying in Marsala. This town is world-famous for its wine production, and there are many wineries that you can visit, tour, and enjoy a tasting. It’s a must for wine-lovers and foodies alike. A boat tour to the Aegadian Islands is also a wonderful choice. Set sail and see the archipelago and stop off in bays for idyllic moments of snorkelling and swimming. To get an overview of the whole area, a private tour of Segesta, Erice, and the Salt Pans is also a wonderful option.

In the 19th century La Foresteria di Badia was the main villa's stable block where the draught horses were kept. In 2006 the Sala family decided to renovate the property and filled it with their family furniture, using traditional colours and flair and imagination.
