This is the ultimate romantic escape, a pretty tower for two in the midst of scented gardens filled with leafy vegetation, towering palms and brightly-coloured oleanders. Shops, bars and restaurants are nearby, and the centre of Marsala - with its famous wineries - is very close.
Badia Tower comes close to resembling a child’s drawing of a fairytale castle, with arched windows and a crenellated tower but in the place of forbidding forests, the fragrant Mediterranean gardens of the Badia Estate. The owners of this extraordinary estate live in the main house and have always been delightfully welcoming to all their guests.
An oleander-bordered pathway leads across the huge gardens to the Tower. At the back of the Tower, there is a lovely private patio area, with a dining table and chairs, parasol, barbecue and separate seating area, which is perfect for al fresco meals or simply sitting and soaking up the atmosphere.
The décor is simple and bright, with white-washed walls, terracotta tiling and pretty blue furnishings. The living space comprises of one main living area, with a small dining table and chairs and a kitchen corner. From here, steps lead up to the bedroom and bathroom with shower.
Beaches
West Sicily has many beaches that still have a wild feel to them, without too many crowds. Badia Tower has several beaches nearby. San Teodoro is a sandy beach with shallow waters. You can walk to an off-shore island for a unique experience! Another sandy beach is Marausa Lido where you can chill out and gaze out towards the Aegadian Islands. Capo Feto is further south but is quiet and unspoilt. You could even take a boat to nearby Favignana and visit the island’s famous beaches. Cala Rossa is extremely popular, but the whole island has gorgeous bays to discover, and crystal-clear water to enjoy.
Towns & Sights
Marsala is very close to the villa. With beautiful architecture in the town centre, and a fantastic food and wine scene, expect stylish bars and restaurants. Trapani is close to the villa. Visit this port town and stroll through the pretty town centre, or jump on a boat and head to the Aegadian Islands. Erice is above Trapani. You can get to it either via the cable car or by driving up the winding road. This Medieval town has a fairy-tale atmosphere and the views from the top are incredible! Mazara del Vallo is also worth a visit for its Kasbah.
Activities
An absolute must when visiting Marsala? A trip to a local winery. Enjoy a wine tour and taste the best local wines. You won’t be disappointed. Another incredible experience is a boat tour of the Aegadian Islands. Set sail and visit some of the most beautiful bays in Favignana, and dive into the azure waters straight from the boat! The Salt Pans also shouldn’t be missed. Salt has been produced here for centuries, and there’s even a small museum. It’s particularly magical at sunset when the lowering sunlight creates a beautiful scene over the windmills and piles of salt.
