Perfect for a group or two families, Mariella comprises two spacious apartments, with a magnificent garden and pool, within striking distance of southern Sicily’s white sandy beaches and the Valley of the Temples.
Towering palms and pine trees encircle the huge garden creating a wonderful haven of peace and calm. However, once outside the villa’s gates, there are numerous beaches, natural beauty spots and cultural attractions.
The garden provides a paradise for children thanks to the large amount of open space. The villa overlooks an extensive lawn fringed by pine trees. The enclosed pine woodland behind the pool has benches and a gazebo amongst the trees. The pool area is surrounded by a paved area with a gazebo and garden furniture. There is also a small bathroom for added comfort. A heated jacuzzi is close to the pool.
There are two large verandas. The first looks over the pool. The second veranda at the rear of the villa is perfect for long leisurely lunches, accessible directly from the kitchen and with a large dining table and barbecue.
There's an outdoor fitness area and you could also get competitive playing ping pong or table football!
Entry to the ground floor apartment is at the back of the villa, while the first floor apartment is accessed via an external staircase.
The ground floor apartment has a modern, uncluttered style. Enter directly into the open-plan living/dining room which opens out onto the poolside veranda. An archway leads to the dining area. A well-equipped kitchen is next to the dining area, with direct access on to the second veranda at the rear of the villa.
The living room leads into an anteroom which separates the two double bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms with shower. A guest bathroom and laundry room is located close to the kitchen.
The external staircase to the first floor apartment leads on to a large terrace with garden view, furnished with outdoor chairs, sunloungers and a table. Enter the apartment from the terrace into the living room which has a TV corner with sofas and a table for four. A functional kitchen corner has adequate facilities for making breakfast and snacks.
There are three double bedrooms on this floor, two of which have an ensuite bathroom. The third double bedroom and a twin bedroom share a bathroom.
Beaches
There are many beautiful beaches in this part of Sicily. You can walk to the beach at Seccagrande from the villa in 15 minutes. It’s great for families and is fairly quiet. Borgo Bonsignore is another quiet beach in the area. Torre Salsa is a nature reserve with a wild expanse of sand. You could even see turtles here at some times of year! Porto Palo di Menfi has shallow waters making it ideal for families. There are also lidos here where you can rent sunloungers. Eraclea Minoa is another gorgeous beach surrounded by pine trees, whilst Scala dei Turchi is unique with its white cliffs.
Towns & Sights
Seccagrande is a small town that has all you need for your holiday. Sciacca is another slightly larger town that is still a fully functioning sea port. Make sure you book a restaurant here where you can taste extremely fresh fish that was brought in that morning. Menfi is famous for its wine production, so visit and enjoy a glass of the local wine. Agrigento is the largest town in the area and has a pretty town centre to explore. However, it is The Valley of The Temples, with its extraordinary Greek temples, that makes Agrigento famous. An absolute must when on holiday here!
Activities
The best way to see the island? From the sea! Take a boat trip along the coast and get a feel for Sicily’s beauty. Swim in clear waters, enjoy the views, soak up the sun. Heavenly! A private tour is a super way to see the most important sights of the area. A private tour of Agrigento lets you see the temples, and the town centre with complete ease. Another unmissable experience in this area is a tour and tasting at a local winery. Or, for an indulgent treat, book a cook service in the villa and enjoy a home-made meal made especially for you.
