Il Borgo del Barone is an impressive, historical villa with both a traditional style and contemporary flair. Dating from the 17th century, Il Borgo del Barone has recently been restored with exceptional attention to detail and a unique style using upcycled furniture. This villa has space for up to 14 guests with a pool area set away from the villa. The villa itself is imposing with lots of space with its large rooms and living areas that really sets it apart. Each room has its own incredible design, and lends itself perfectly to a stylish holiday in Sicily.
The outside space at Il Borgo del Barone is evocative of another era. There’s the original entrance that can only be reached by foot which is full of character. For ease, you can also reach the villa by car, driving past the impressive property and arriving near the main house.
The villa is a traditional stone Baglio, complete with a charming courtyard where you can enjoy al fresco meals. This characteristic space also has a barbecue. The villa is surrounded by paths and staircases - it feels like a miniature town!
The pool area is set below the villa, surrounded by beautiful Sicilian countryside. There are sunloungers, a changing room and a bathroom with a shower, as well as an outdoor shower. There's also a pleasant gazebo for moments you want the shade. Il Borgo del Barone’s outdoor space offers ample opportunity to surround yourself by nature near the pool area, and the magical atmosphere of the town. There’s space and privacy for every guest to enjoy, soaking up the unmistakable Sicilian feel of the villa.
Walk up the cobbled stone staircase into the courtyard from which your can enter straight into a stunning entrance hall. With minimal furnishing, gorgeous stone walls and an ancient olive press, this room makes a real statement. From here sliding metal doors take you to the sitting room with sofas, and a smart TV. An office is found just off this sitting room where you can read or work if needs be. A bedroom with a double bed and ensuite shower is accessed via this office. From the main entrance hall a corridor takes you to the kitchen - with a sleek, modern design - with a large window and balcony. From here you can reach the minimalist dining room with a stunning glass table and access to a balcony with countryside views leading out to the sea. On a clear day you can even see the Aeolian islands!
There is a secondary kitchen on the ground floor with a sofa too. This is ideal for making snacks and hot drinks.
Go up to the first floor via a staircase from the main entrance hall. There is a mezzanine-like hallway under the eaves furnished with sofas that looks down over the entrance. There are three bedrooms in this area - all with unique style and extraordinary design. One has a double bed, one has incredible foot-to-foot twin beds, and the third has a beautiful round bed. All are decorated with care and upcycled style, and all have their own bathrooms with shower.
Walk along the corridor above the entrance hall and you'll reach another beautiful bedroom with a double bed and ensuite bathroom. A sixth bedroom is accessed from a secondary staircase near the second kitchen. This bedroom also has a double bed and a lovely ensuite bathroom.
There is a separate suite for a couple. This beautiful room has a stylish round double bed, a sitting area, and a small kitchen. Furnished with great taste, there is even a shower in the bedroom, as well as an ensuite bathroom with another shower. The Suite is accessible from the garden only, via a charming bridge. Ideal for those who want a bit more privacy!
Beaches
You can find a wide range of beautiful beaches along Sicily’s north coast. Villa Margi is close to the villa, and is quiet and peaceful and perfect for a day out. Castel di Tusa has a Blue Flag beach so you are guaranteed crystal-clear waters and great facilities. Finale di Pollina is an oasis of relaxation with the azure waters lapping against the pebbles. For a sandy beach in the area, Cefalù can’t be beaten with its areas of free beach or lidos with sunloungers. Mazzaforno and Sant’Ambrogio are also worth a visit.
Towns & Sights
Day trips to beautiful towns are on the cards at Il Borgo del Barone. Santo Stefano di Camastra is very close to the villa. Visit this small seaside town that’s famous for its ceramics. Colourful and intricate, they make amazing souvenirs! Castel di Tusa is another coastal town nearby. For larger towns, vist Cefalù with its gorgeous town centre, or Monreale with its outstanding mosaics. Palermo is also nearby and has to be seen to be believed. Or, if you prefer fresh, mountain air, head up to Castelbuono, a hilltop town in the Madonie Mountains famous for its great food.
Activities
Indulge in some fantastic food at the villa with an in-villa cook service where a local cook comes and cooks you an unforgettable meal. Or if you want to learn the tricks of the culinary trade, enjoy a cookery lesson at the villa. A Street Food tour in Palermo is also a must for foodies. Walk around the city centre and taste the world-famous snacks in Palermo! If you prefer wine, visit a local winery and enjoy a tasting and tour. For seeing the best sights with the utmost ease, book a private tour of Cefalù and Castelbuono.
