Villa with infinity pool and sea views
Eraclea Minoa (South Sicily)
This modern villa has an amazing pool and indescribable views. Sunsets are truly a highlight. Casa d’Eraclea is about as cool as it gets. Hammocks and sunloungers dot the terraces, an infinity pool looks out over the pine-fringed coastline of the Bay of Eraclea and the sandy beach is just 500 meters away, down a private dirt road.
Casa d’Eraclea is in a quiet corner of south Sicily that remains largely untouched by tourism, secluded from the outside world and set against a backdrop of dramatic sea views and rugged beauty. Accessible from the main road via a flight of stone steps, the villa is perched on a hill with incredible views.
The real show-stopper here is the infinity pool which has the most dramatic views along the coast and across towards Africa. The garden is terraced and also has a decking area around the pool, so there are several quiet corners, scattered with sunloungers and hammocks. The large covered veranda is perfect for relaxed al fresco meals, with a long table and chairs and a barbecue.
The villa is bright and comfortable, featuring – on the ground floor – an open-plan living room and kitchen corner, with a dining area and a TV corner with a comfy sofa, that leads directly out onto the terrace. This floor has a double bedroom, an additional sleeping area with a single bed, and a bathroom with shower. There are two further bedrooms upstairs, a double and a single, and another bathroom with shower. The landing on the first floor is furnished with a sofa and has access to a small terrace with amazing views.
Beaches
Eraclea Minoa beach is within walking distance of the villa, so you can stroll down every day and enjoy the sandy bay surrounded by pine trees. There’s even a small beach bar. Torre Salsa Nature reserve is not too far. This protected area has a vast expanse of sand, and you may even spot turtles at certain times of the year. Scala dei Turchi is a famous beach thanks to its white marl cliffs that gently descend into the water. Visit and be wowed by the splendid natural scenery. Or visit Porto Palo di Menfi, a Blue Flag beach with shallow waters and great facilities.
Towns & Sights
South west Sicily has some lovely towns that are not too touristy. Sciacca is an important working port town. Seeing the fishing ships come in is a lovely sight, and the local restaurants have some of the freshest fish around! Menfi is also worth a visit. The area surrounding the town is well-known for its wine, so make sure to try some when you visit. Seccagrande is also a sleepy seaside town with a traditional atmosphere. And of course Agrigento cannot be missed with its lovely town centre and the incredible UNESCO recognised Valley of the Temples.
Activities
Whether you want culture, nature, or food and wine, this part of Sicily has something for you. Set sail along the coast on a boat trip. You’ll see gorgeous bays and can swim in the clearest waters imaginable! If you want to see the best sights, then a tour of Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples is a must. You’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time. Foodies are really spoilt for choice. You can enjoy a winery tour near Menfi, or if you prefer to stay at home, enjoy an in-villa cook service or lesson on how to make Sicilian pasta or pastry!
